Shri Sanjay Baburao Shete, General Secretary of the Maharashtra Olympic Association, and Patron of the Indian Rope Skipping federation. His association with IRSF marks an important milestone in the federation’s continued efforts to promote rope skipping as a structured and widely recognized sport across India.

Sanjay Shete’s Supports Sports Development in India

Sanjay Baburao Shete, is supporting the Indian athlete’s development, grassroot sports promotion, awareness initiatives, and long-term organizational growth. His experience in sports administration is expected to help Bombay Physical Culture Association to further strengthen its mission of developing “Balam Rashtrasya Vardhanam” ‘बलम राष्ट्रस्य वर्धनम’ means strength for nation building – by empowering youth with physical, mental, intellectual, emotional and social fitness blended with integrity and harmony as mainstream of Sports and Physical Education in India. His support is expected to strengthen the BPCA’s outreach activities and encourage greater awareness about the benefits of Sports and Physical Education among schools, colleges, and youth organizations.
Rendering honorary services to various educational, social and co-operative institutes and organizations in various capacities from last 35 years. The present status of the same is as follows –

EDUCATIONAL SERVICES

  • Worked/working as Member of the Senate and Management Council of the University of Mumbai.
  • Worked/working in the management of the Bombay Physical Culture Association as Member/Chairman for the last 34 years and running its College of Physical Education, affiliated to the University of Mumbai, conducting Teacher Education Courses viz. B.P.Ed., M.P.Ed. & Ph.D. Recently accredited by NAAC with ‘A’ Grade (3rd Cycle) for the year 2016-2021.
  • Worked/working for about 29 years in the Managing Committee of the Akhil Bhartiya Maratha Shikshan Parishad in the capacity of Vice-President and Chairman.
  • Member of LMC of Anantrao Pawar College of Engineering, Pune.
  • Organized various State/National-level workshops/conferences/seminars as a Patron/Chairman at various educational institutions.
  • Worked/working as Chairman, Mumbai-Thane Regional Committee of Akhil Bharatiya Maratha Shikshan Parishad and its Chhatrapati Shahu Maharaj Students Hostel, Bandra, Mumbai, for the last about 24 years.

CO-OPERATIVE SECTOR SERVICES

  • Working as Chairman of the Board of Management of Sahakari Bhandar for the last 21 years, having 23 branches all over Greater Mumbai and Navi Mumbai, about 1000 employees, and a turnover of 400 crores. Recipient of the First Prize of the Sahakar Bhushan Award by the Government of Maharashtra in 2017 as the Best Consumers’ Co-operative Institution.
  • Worked/working as Vice-President and Member of the Board of Management of the Satara Sahakari Bank (SS Bank) for the last 16 years, having about 25 branches and a turnover of 2000 crores. Recipient of 11 awards for its excellence during the last 12 years.
  • Worked/working as Chairman of Mahamumbai Co-operative Industries Ltd., Mumbai, for the last 25 years. Recipient of the Sahakar Bhushan Award by the Government of Maharashtra in 2017 as the Best Industrial Co-operative Institution.

SERVICES IN SPORTS FIELD :

  • Working as General Secretary of Maharashtra Olympic Association – 2025.
  • Worked/working as President of Mumbai City Gymnastics Association for the last 24 years.
  • Working/worked as President of Maharashtra State Gymnastics Association for the last 14 years.

SOCIAL SERVICES:

  • Worked/working as President of Baburao Shete Charitable Trust for the last 31 years and financially supported various individuals/social organizations for social causes.
  • Organized various programmes on social issues, including Blood Donation, Free Eye Check-Up, Cancer Check-Up, etc.
  • Played an instrumental role in building a water dam with a capacity of 2 TMC at the native place (Village – Yelgaon, Satara), as well as providing facilities such as a school, health centre, cultural hall, and temple to the villagers.
  • Worked/working as Member/General Secretary of Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj Smarak Samiti for the statues at Gateway of India and Shivaji Park, Mumbai.
