About Programme
The Master of Physical Education (M.P.Ed.) two years (Four Semesters, Choice Based Credit System) programme is a professional programme meant for preparing Physical Education Teachers for senior secondary (Class XI and XII) level as well as Assistant Professor/ Directors/ Sports Officers in Colleges/ Universities and teacher educators in College of Physical Education. Master of Physical Education (MPED) in which the students get to study about sports related activities and also other aspects such as sports psychology, exercise physiology, sports science, sports research methodology etc. Also students acquire skills pertaining to professional training and significance of fitness in sports. This program offers specialized training in Physical Education and Sports. Students interested in gaining knowledge of various allied areas & courses, instructional methodology and procedures in physical education & sports can enrol for this course.
Objective
- To train young minds for the gainful employment in Universities/colleges.
- To augment personal, professional and social competencies required in teachers.
- To familiarize with research methodology in order to develop research aptitude to undertake research in Physical Education, Health, fitness and Sports Sciences.
- To develop scientific temper and interest to teach the subject on the basis of principles of Physical Education and Sports Sciences.
- To inculcate competencies to manage Physical Education, Sports, Health, and fitness at college / University level.
- To sharpen practical skills to organize, conduct and evaluate sports competitions, tournaments at different level.
- To open up new vistas in fast emerging and developing current issues in Physical Education and Sports.
- To sharpen practical skills and competencies in understanding and guiding athletes and solving their personal and performance related problems.
- To create the awareness about the role of Physical Education and Sports along with the role of college/University and teachers as agents of social change, national integration, productivity and scientific temper.
- To develop broad perspective in order to maintain and improve the quality of professionals and its marketability.
Programme Outcomes
- To prepare the leaders who can work in Health and Fitness Industry as Fitness and Wellness experts.
- To prepare Sports Experts in various capacities like Trainers, Physiotherapists, Rehabilitation Experts, Sports Counsellors, Game Officials, Scorers, Referees etc.
- To prepares Experts who can work with various Sports Federations/Organisations/Leagues/Media Houses.
Admission Procedure
The candidates have to appear at the Common Entrance Test (CET) conducted by STATE COMMON ENTRANCE TEST CELL, MAHARASHTRA STATE, MUMBAI. The candidates will be finally admitted only on the basis of the Merit list generated and candidate allotted by MAH-M.P.Ed CET through CAP Rounds.
All candidates including backward class candidates having Degree / Post Graduate Degree from Out of Maharashtra Universities will be considered as Open Category candidates.
Eligibility for Appearing to MAH-M. P. Ed CET
A. For Maharashtra State Candidature Candidates:-
1) The candidate should be an Indian National and should have –
(a) Bachelor‘s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or equivalent with at least 50% of Marks from a Recognized Institution in Maharashtra State (Minimum 45% marks in case of Backward Class Categories belonging only to Maharashtra State)
OR
(b) The candidate should have passed Bachelor‘s Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education with at least 50% marks from a Recognized Institution in Maharashtra State (Minimum 45% marks in case of Backward Class Categories belonging only to Maharashtra State) And
2) Percentile Score in MAH-M.P.Ed. 2025 CET. Note :-All candidates including backward class candidates having Degree from Out of Maharashtra Universities will be considered as Open Category candidates (Refer #: Extra ordinary Gazette Part 4-B No 117 dated 2nd May 2018.)
B. All India Candidature Candidates (OMS) –
1) The candidate should be an Indian National and should have – Bachelor‘s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or Bachelor‘s Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education or equivalent Degree from recognized universities with at least 50% of Marks. And
2) Percentile Score in MAH-M.P.Ed. 2025 CET.
C. Jammu &Kashmir Migrant Candidature Candidates:-
1) The candidate should be an Indian National and should have – Bachelor‘s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or Bachelor‘s Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education or equivalent Degree from recognized universities with at least 50% of Marks. And
2) Percentile Score in MAH-M.P.Ed. 2025 CET.
D. NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign National Students/CIWGC Candidature
The candidate should have valid NRI/OCI/PIO/Foreign National/CIWGC documents mentioned in special instructions to candidates below and should have Bachelor‘s Degree in Physical Education (B.P.Ed.) or Bachelor‘s Degree of Science (B.Sc.) in Health and Physical Education or equivalent Degree from recognized universities with at least 50% of Marks.
